Virtual Flight Squadron
The AKA Wardogs squadron traces it's origins to the early 1980's. Since it's inception, it has held a reputation for it's pilots ferocity and skill in flight simulations. The dedication to the Squadron and to each other by it's members is unparalleled, which is what makes it what it is today. The Squadron is fortunate to have members from around the globe with various skills. Wardogs have served their countries and communities in various ways including military and civil service, clergy, research, agriculture and many other ways. Regardless of who we are or where we come from, the Wardogs all share the love of flying and are willing to share the wealth of knowledge we possess with each other.
Our Mission:
To strive for excellence in virtual aerial warfare, promote the growth of all aspects of virtual flying skills and provide that training to its members.

Thank you for your contribution.
The AKA_Wardogs are well known
for our prowess in the virtual flight world. This reputation has been earned by
experience, dedication, cooperation, honor and respect by our members in a wide
variety of combat flight simulators, including members with real-world
applications as pilots who are always willing to provide assistance and guidance
to the willing learners.
While we are all dedicated, we
realize that time is a precious commodity and while we do not enforce
participation in our training or squadron events, we do expect our members to
maintain a blend of fun and flight discipline to ensure the success of any
mission we participate in. There is no fee for membership but we do expect
applicants for the squadron to complete a probationary period and relinquish
affiliations with competing squadrons while participating in activities as a
member of the AKA_Wardogs.
Are you ready to “Sink your
teeth in and let go only when dead?” If so, and you would like to apply for
squadron membership, please email our
CO, AKA_Taipan, and please be sure to include the call-sign
you wish to fly under as well as your name, city of residence and other
simulations you have participated in.

For a more succinct and historical look into the AKA_Wardogs squadron, please feel free to peruse and of the hyperlinks below. For those listed with images, merely click on the image to be transported to the pages, where you will find many of our escapades, which were written by many of our member pilots. Please keep in mind that most of these stories should be taken on a much lighter note, as they were written with tongues planted firmly in cheeks.
Squadron Discipline: Why we must have our very own Air Command Sergeant Major:
Over the years, AKA_Wardogs have found occasions when pilots are not maintaining the high standards expected by those of us who like to expect such things in those we judge, and so, in keeping with our traditions of high standards, we enlisted our beloved ACSM Burnesley Ulysses. MacCulloughy, who keeps watchful eye on us. To read more about the ACSM's unique style, simply click his image.
Health and Hygiene: Why we must have our very own squadron medical team:
Over the years, AKA_Wardogs have participated in a multitude of online events, requiring us to come into contact with multitudes of different cultures and attitudes. Although we try very hard to keep our bodies and minds pure of such things by rinsing ubiquitously with libations intended for just such purposes, oft-times it results in acquisitions of various ailments. However, to keep us fit and ready to fly and fight we have our very own medical staff. To read more about our Dr.s Bones and OzZiggy, and familiarize yourself with our bevy of dedicated nurses, click the image.
Our place in history: Challenge Ladder after-action reports
The early days in Pacific Air War and Fighter Duel challenge ladders, those DOS-based sim days of the 80's and 90's, matches between pilots had to be flown along the dial-up modem lines, often requiring payment of long-distance telephone fees. As computers progressed and the Internet became readily available, flight sims progressed as well. European Air War and Jane's F-15 stimulated the desire to also become the Top Dogs in those sims. Our members often fought head-to-head matches in these challenge ladders, in pursuit of the desired honor of being the Top Dog of the ladder. If for nothing else, it did attract the attention of the only female on our small virtual Pacific island, "KoKo." The Pacific Air War and Fighter Duel flight sims were the preferred simulations for this endeavor and these allowed the victors to expound upon their exploits in the form of after-action reports. These reports graced our logbooks. The links below will direct you to these reports. These reports belong to the men who penned them and granted permission to avail them to you. Don't forget to place your tongue firmly into your cheek as you read because that is where they were at the time the writers wrote them. Simply click on the image.
